THE RICHNESS OF IMPERFECTION

Jill Vacarra’s design aesthetic focuses on the exquisite beauty that can be found in imperfection, organic form, rough edges and corroded surfaces. Vacarra’s jewelry designs are often inspired by organic shapes from the natural world and by ancient artifacts that have been “sculpted” by time and the environment.

In developing her initial one-of-a-kind jewelry collection, Anciennes, Vacarra hit on an unlikely pairing: actual ancient artifacts — rough, unrestored, chipped and worn objects from the past — combined with brilliant diamonds and sapphires. In this combination, she knew she had stumbled onto the perfect manifestation of her personal aesthetic. The contrast between rough texture and luster is also evident in her Echoes collection in which luminous metal surfaces are rough, and delicate designs shimmer with subtle gemstone accents such as champagne, cognac, green and yellow diamonds.
